Hi, I’m Dr. Tina Nguyen. One of the happiest moments in my life was receiving my acceptance letter to the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. I graduated in 2000 and dreamed of having my own practice in my home community of Mississauga. That dream became a reality in 2004 and is now known as MCity Optometry.
People often ask me: “When did you know you wanted to be an optometrist?”. I was fortunate to know my “calling” early in life; while cleaning out my basement, I found a Grade 9 assignment titled: “My Future Career as an Optometrist”. People also often ask me: “Why did you become an optometrist?”. For me, sight is the most important of the five senses. Sight is necessary to perform most of our daily activities, even the most basic ones. Sight allows us to learn – through reading, writing, and observing. Sight allows us to appreciate all the beauty of the world. In short, sight is necessary to LIVE. As an optometrist, I have the opportunity to help my patients live better by maintaining and improving their sight.
My goal is to provide exceptional eye care to all my patients, in a warm and friendly environment. I strive to deliver the level of care that I would provide to my own family. My greatest joy is seeing the smile on a patient’s face when I am able to make them see better. Equally rewarding are the wonderful relationships that I have formed with my patients and their families over the years. For my current patients, thank you for trusting me with your eye care. For those of you looking for an optometrist, I look forward to meeting you and taking care of you.
